I am 27-year old female and have been using lemon juice for my hair for dandruff. Recently, my friend visited me when I was making this pack. She said that lemon juice makes your hair grey and hence, should avoid. Does using lemon juice make hair white/grey? Please help.
You should not use lemon juice for hair as it is loaded with citric acid that has a potential to peel off the keratin, a type of protein present in the hair and thus, lighten your hair colour. This can be severe if you use it in the concentrated form as lemon juice in acidic in nature and thus damages your hair strand. This is one of the reasons most experts recommend using diluted lemon juice or using it with other ingredients. Also, you should apply diluted lemon juice on the scalp and not on the hair as the chances are high that it might make it dry and frizzy.
You can add one or two teaspoons of lemon juice to a bowl of water/curd to deal with dandruff. Even mixing it with coconut oil or almond oil also helps in fighting dandruff. If you want to make a hair pack for dandruff, all you need to do is soak methi seeds overnight and make a fine paste in the morning. Now, mix some lemon juice to it and apply it on the scalp. Keep it for few minutes before washing it off with cold water.
